A 'Bad Feminist'??

Hello everybody!

This is inspired by my Buzzfeed, the YouTube channel which I binge watch all the time because they have so many colours.

This might be a controversial topic but, is there really such thing as being a bad feminist? I've seen this being said around YouTube by angry people storming over from the depths of tumblr and it just annoys me that people expect that if you believe in something then every single thing you say has to follow certain guidelines or it makes you a terrible person. I do not recall there being a handbook to Feminism being given to you as you proclaim your identity which is blessed by the ghost of Emily Davison. Come on people, just because you don't support one woman and her actions it doesn't make you a bad feminist, just because you didn't wear your feminist T-shirt to work it doesn't mean your a bad feminist, just because you don't have "I'm a feminist" tattooed on your forehead it doesn't mean your a bad feminist! 

Let us just recall the definition of feminism for a second:

fem·i·nism

ˈfeməˌnizəm/

noun

the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men.

Oh look there, if you believe in what is said up there and you support and take action towards this cause I think that you're a good feminist personally. I do not speak for all feminist because I am a 14 year old, Teen Wolf and The 1975 obsessed school girl who has had enough of other feminists bashing other feminists and putting down other people for apparently being 'bad'. This post might make no sense at all and you are probably thinking "wtf is this girl saying" but I do have a lot to learn and I've only been on this earth since May 2001. Yes I have experienced extremely sexist incidents with men and women and I feel like I want to talk about it. I'm lucky enough to be born in a generation which in a way is moving forward and are getting a bit more stupid e.g. what are thoooosseeeee (argh it just makes me want to knock my head continuously on a plank of wood) but I feel as though my blog is a place for me to share my opinions which don't quite make sense.

So this post summed up; please stop calling people bad feminists; my generation is 50 shades of messed up as I said before with what are thoosseeeee; I am not very good at formulating my opinion in written form; I'm a feminist and happy.

Dear Illuminae,
It has been only 30 minutes since I have finished you and there a whole load of books sitting in my goodreads for review but you were so special all that I had to get my feelings down. It is currently 11:32 pm and after experiencing you, I feel as alive as ever. Your action kept me on edge and your characters had me wiping tears yet to fall away from my eyes. I just want to dedicate a post to you and your wonderful content.

I had never read any books by the people who created you and I dove in with wool over my eyes. I had obviously had faith in you and I had been watching you from the side lines. When I had seen that I had been accepted my world lit up and I anxiously waited for you in the post. I am glad that I didn't start you straight away but waited until the moment was right. I must admit, I was scared to open you, I don't know why I felt that way but I just was. Although it took me almost a month to finish you, I wanted to indulge every single part until it was embedded into my memory. Your cleverness in the way you were written makes this unforgettable.

I loved your range of characters. You had the sarcastic, the witty, the optimistic and the pessimistic characters and as a whole made you awesome. You are probably the first book where the characters were intended to not be liked but I just couldn't bring myself to hate all these contrasting personalities hidden in 599 pages. Kady Grant was one fierce and intelligent female character who I admired for not only her bravery but her brains and knowledge. Nowadays not many characters are brain smart but only physically smart. Kady could code her way to crashing down superior systems and saving lives. All that just from one brain. Of course there  was Ezra Mason, the jock, the good-looking guy and you just couldn't help but fall in love with him as you go along. His ability to adapt to situations and his drive to live makes me want to create a real version of Ezra and have him all for myself. Carrie Hope Fletcher wasn't wrong when she said that book boys were better!

I also loved how you were written. You were a series of images, dialogue and transcripts. Your words created images and were shaped in a poetic way. The curved with the page and made you even more interesting. You had faces and names and you were perfect. You were mind blowing and emotional and for me the best of 2015. You have deepened my love for sci fi, you have made me want to code again and you have made me want to read you over and over again until you are battered with love. Thank you Illuminae for being such a awesome book and I don't think I will find anything as good as you in a very long time. I hope you see this Illuminae team, stay amazingly awesome.

MY THOUGHTS

OH MY GOSH. That is the only way to describe how I felt after I read this book. I was mindblown at the start and then the end just resurrected me then blew me up again. I was wondering where the rest of the book was, clinging onto the last words then sitting in silence for  a couple of minutes drunk on the awesomeness. If you could jump into my kindle and read the notes I made you would realise the impact of this book such as when Taylor's boyfriend was saying:
"Im the most popular guy at this school"-lol get a life m8
I'm not kidding when I say that I actually wrote that down when I was reading the book. Don't worry though, this book is not a high school drama where everybody is self centred

As the synopsis does say this book follows the lives if two characters Taylor and Sacha two teenagers with incredible abilities and they don't know why they can do such amazing things. Sacha is a lazy French teenager who turns up to school once in a blue moon, wears all black and can't die. Taylor is your high achieving student who is set for Oxford, dates none other than golden athletic boy of the school and weird things have been happening to her lately. Little do these two people know is that they rely on each other and together they have to save the world. The only problem is that they have never met.

What I really liked about the story was the progression of it and how as the reader could slowly see how these characters are as people. I enjoyed how, as much as it aggravated me in a good way as I wanted more and more after I had actually finished the book! I can't even explain how much I love it because I was squealing whenever  one thing happened and I sat there with my mouth is an 'O' shape and things progressed.

I loved how each chapter was in two characters pointe of view and how the book was set in two different countries. We as the audience did learn about the characters but not too much was given away about them and loads of things remained a mystery. I was also able to learn more about the outskirts of Paris and how people in Taylor's school behaved and I felt like a fly on the wall l, tuning into each of there stories.

I'm a bit out of practice from writing reviews so sorry if this one is utter crap. I might have to start blogging only once a week or getting a co-blogger because I am extremely busy at the moment with hell (school) which is keeping me away from blogging as much as I would like to.

Those Cliché Story Lines||❤

Hi everybody!

I'm back, when I say I'm back I don't mean say that I'm back then leave for a month without posting, nope. I'm back for real with a discussion post which has been on my kind over the past couple of days. My question is why do a majority of female characters in books fall head over heels in love then lose their common sense?

This question has been the cause of my many reading slumps

 For example, why does Cassie in the 5th wave always to running back to some Alien psycho dude who she claims she loves and would say "no you are not leaving me again!" Come on, let's be real here. If that boy wasn't my direct family I would drop him and run the hell away and protect myself. Nobody has time for good looking alien boys!

Enough with my rant up there but I'm just going to put my feelings out there and say that it us getting extremely boring that the lead always has to fall in love because guess what? It is so unrealistic. Yeah, yeah it is called fiction for a reason but come on at least make characters relatable! It's like a special Hollywood formula for books checklist which goes like:

1. Falls in love with bad boy/girl or an incredibly good looking person
2. Creeping staring at each other (*cough twilight *cough*
3. Oh no relationship problem e.g. love triangle or argument over something like a sword or hairstyle
4. The partner takes them stargazing or to a cliff or somewhere incredibly secluded
5. Oh another bump in the relationship
6. Either an over dramatic breakup or someone is saved from a dragon or a person with a gun

The End

I think that I have gone extremely off topic here but I just needed to let my formula out. I want some badass story lines on self discovery instead of "oh there is a relatively good looking person lets make them fall in love and buy ponies". I feel like this is a waste of time because I still will probably read, scream at and even enjoy these specially formulated books  as I am a sucker for cliche as much as it makes me gag.
